Every year Send A Piana To Havana brings a group of piano tuners and technicians to Cuba. The tuners are from all over North America and Europe and are skilled in the latest piano technology. Aside from providing a unique educational experience for U.S. citizens, the brigades restore existing pianos in Cuba, prepare our donated pianos for distribution, and instruct Cuban tuners and rebuilders. The brigades are about 10 days in February of each year. Participation in the brigade costs about $1,200 US including airfare. Although the brigades consist primarily of piano tuners and rebuilders, we welcome the assistance of all kinds of volunteers. The brigade participants stay in dormitory-like accommodations near the Escuela Nacional de Arte in western Havana for most of the stay. We also visit other provinces of Cuba for a few days to work on pianos and work with tuners there. Read the testimonials of past Brigade participants. Join Tuners' Brigade 2001!!The next Tuners' Brigade is set for mid-February 2001 and will be organized by Elizabeth Batiuk.
