CUBA ACTION ALERT
November 1, 1999
Dr. Anthony Kirkpatrick, a renowned U.S. anesthesiologist, and currently on
the faculty at the University of South Florida and the Director for research
for a national medical association dedicated to a life-threatening diseased
called reflex sympathetic dystrophy, has presented to the U.S. Office of Special
Counsel (OSC) an affidavit evidencing that the State Department knowingly made
false and misleading statements to Congress to obfuscate the agency's role in
violating the most basic of international conventions governing human rights.
Furthermore, he affirms, by carrying out this deception repeatedly before the Senate and House of Representatives, the State Department has made a significant contribution in blocking legislation to restore shipments of food and medicine essential for the survival of Cuba's civilian population.
USA/Cuba InfoMed, salutes and applauds the professional integrity and the human dignity of Dr. Anthony Kirkpatrick, at home and abroad, and thanks him for representing the best of the American people's minds and hearts against injustice and abuse.
People seeking justice for the Cuban people should read this legal brief, and contact their representatives to call for a congressional investigation of the State Department.

"This is just one case of millions where innocent, defenseless Cubans have been harmed, even killed, because the U.S. blocks critical medical supplies from reaching the Cuban people. Since almost everything in modern medicine is American-made, patented or distributed by American Companies--from X-rays to Tylenol, not mentioning modern drugs for hypertension or cancer, Xerox-invented mammograms for breast cancer screening, cardiac pacemakers, anesthetics and pain-control medications--very few medical items reach Cuba due to the embargo." - Dr. Kirkpatrick
Victor W. Sidel, M.D., Past President, American Public Health Association (APHA)
says:
"Anthony Kirkpatrick, M.D., Ph.D., from Tampa, Florida has been especially effective in publicizing the adverse health effects of the embargo and in bringing the cause of the Cuban people before the Organization of American States."

The U.S. Office of Special Counsel (OSC) is also conducting a separate investigation into the allegations that Dr. Kirkpatrick made against the U.S. Department of State.
In order to strengthen Dr. Kirkpatrick's allegations, the Government Accountability Project submitted a legal brief to the OSC that contains the results of its own independent investigation, which independently proves that the there is a substantial likelihood that Dr. Kirkpatrick's allegations against the State Department are accurate. Those seeking justice for the Cuban people should read this legal brief.

Television interview,"60 Minutes",(CBS)
May 12, 1996:
Lesley Stahl, speaking of US sanctions against Iraq:
"We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And -- and you know, is the price worth it?"
Madeleine Albright: "I think this is a very hard choice, but the price -- we think the price is worth it."
You don't believe that the Madeline Albright would say such thing? That 500,000 innocent children is a worthy price to pay for eliminating a political opponent? see and hear the interview for yourself!
For those with a professional interest in RSD Syndrome, a "real-time" video of Dr. Kirkpatrick caring for patients with this debilitating disease has been published on the Internet by the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association of America The video can be found at: http://www.rsds.org/
