Dear Friends in Solidarity with Cuba:

We are the Cuba AIDS project, created in 1995 to bring medications and articles of personal hygiene to our brothers and sisters who suffer from HIV/AIDS in the island.

Our mission has been very successful for we have gone to Cuba in three occasions, bringing nearly two tons medicines, clothes and hygiene products. We are looking for linkages with friends of Cuba in other cities, from which donations can be sent.

We would like to get in touch with other groups so that we can network. Please call us at:

"Cuba Aids Project Fourth Shipment Of Aid A Success

Areas Of Need Are Expanded, To Include The Intermediate Care Unit At The Armejeiras Brothers Hospital, And The Aids Support Group At The Montserrate Catholic Parish

After months of preparations, the Cuba Aids Project, have successfully brought almost a thousand pounds of humanitarian aid to three separate entities in the island nation.

The recipients of the aid were the AIDS Sanatorium outside Habana, the intermediate care unit at the Armejeiras Brothers Hospital in Habana City, and the Aids Support Group at the Montserrate Catholic Parish in central Habana city. It consisted of AIDS medications, printed prevention of AIDS materials , personal hygiene products , nutritional support , condoms and clothing.

The aid was flown from South Florida, via Nassau, , on private chartered aircraft, with previous authorization from the Cuban Govt., and after attaining landing rights from the Cuban Ministry of Aeronautics. The US governing entities, were slow in responding to Cuba AIDS Project requests for licensing, hindering its efforts to successfully carry out its mission of delivering the aid direct from US soil, which contained medications on the verge of expiring, thus making necessary to deliver the aid immediately , from a third country.

With the assistance of the corresponding entities in Cuba, all aid was delivered successfully to all three recipients, and members of Cuba AIDS Project were given absolute leeway in its dealing with the recipients of the aid, thus ensuring "end of use monitoring", a term so endearing to pro-embargo cheerleaders.

The Cuba AIDS Project appeals to decision making bodies in the US Govt. , to INMEDIATELY allow, as new legislation states, and by presidential decree , the delivery of such aid direct from the US , and to indeed STOP ostracizing the efforts of humanitarian groups intend in helping to alleviate the very appalling suffering of the people of Cuba. US airspace controllers, harassed this latest effort by a humanitarian group, by making the two engine non air conditioned aircraft wait, under sweltering heat, on the ground in Nassau on a take off pattern, before finally, after a grueling forty five minutes , giving it permission to take off and fly across its arrogant ,spit of an air passage, which it fiercely and imperialistically, controls, in the Florida Straights, lying between the Bahamas and Cuba. Islands in the stream indeed.

However, as HIV+ members of Cuba AIDS Project were drenched in dehydrating sweat, and exasperated by the lack of air in the cabin they also felt exhilarated ,for they felt that every drop of sweat, was a drop of sacrifice for their brothers and sisters in the beloved island, which confronts its worst economic situation in its 500 years , exacerbated by the most cruel , criminal, vengeful, and unethical blockade in human history .

We urge you to support any worthy cause, that will bring about a climate of engagement and reconciliation, and that the suffering of our next door neighbor and fellow human beings its alleviated, and solution is brought about to this most inhumane impasse.

Thank you, and thanks to all involved in both the US and Cuba for making this journey such an astounding success, amidst such an gulf of apathy and mistrust,
